The How
View Image
- SMS
- SMS or Text Messages are the simplest and "lightest" way to reach your consumer. They are deliverd quickly without the need for a strong network signal, so no matter how many "bars" your audience has, chances are, they will receive your message. Only text and links to sites can be included.
- MMS
- MMS or Multimedia Messaging is a more interactive way to reach your audience through messaging. These message types can include images, videos, ringtones, coupons - pretty much anything you can receive via email. But, there are some considerations: Bandwidth, for example. An MMS message can take a lot longer to download and can cost your customer additional wireless fees.
- QR Codes
- QR Codes are a pretty new and exciting way to interact with your audience. Many new devices come with a "QR Reader" application that allows that device to scan a code to link to a download an app, go to a website or to other media you would like to present to your audience.
- Bluetooth
- This is a relatively new territory for marketers, but should be fully explored. Say you would like to increase foot traffic to your music store and would like to offer some kind of incentive to bring the people in. We can offer consumers an exclusive music download, but it will only be available in your store. By connecting your Bluetooth signal to the user's phone, you can push the MP3 file right to their phone, but only from within your store. Mission accomplished!
- Social Networking
- Facebook and Twitter are just two of the many popular social networking services available and widely used by the American Public; Twitter is designed for use by a mobile device and Facebook and others like it have nice apps to make using their sites via a mobile device easy and extremely convenient.
- Mobile Messenger
- Instant Messaging is seriously underutilized. It carries none of the fees that text messages do. Let's make friends with your customer!
The Who

- Students
- You could help them study, but where's the fun in that?
- Teachers
- Teachers are people too, except for my 8th grade music teacher. She was an angel :)
- Professionals
- Yes, of course. Simply for research... or to text my friend about the riveting 3 hour meeting I'm sitting through. "Set phasers to stun."
- Teens
- Like, duh! This is one of our biggest markets. Teens sleep with their phones by their beds (yeah, we do too).
- Moms
- Here is where the money is made. Sorry, moms, but you are the ones who buy the stuff for the kids!
- Everyone
- Check out the "Power of Mobile" slide. 86% of homes have mobile phones!! It really could make you want to put all of your marketing budget into mobile. Just give it a try! We can start with a small test and go from there!
